To extend with brass tube: The Dogbone is designed for the shaft to fit inside a standard #130 7/32" K&S brass tube. It is not a tight fit so it will have to be secured with epoxy or better, cross-drilled and a pin inserted. There is only 15/16" of shaft between the two ends. Now shipped with new kits. New Rudder for Vac-U-Tug and Vac-U-Cam - A new injection-molded rudder is now available. Shown on the left next to the original rudder, it has about 40% more area and will allow greater control in reverse. It can be sanded or trimmed to a more "scale" appearance if you wish. The shaft of the new rudder is slightly larger in diameter than the original. 0.124" verses the original's 0.123" to 0.1235" diameter. If you are upgrading an existing tug, you may need to use a 1/8" drill or hone to carefully enlarge the rudder bearing and the hole in the brass skeg in your tug to accommodate the new rudder. The new rudder (white part) is 1-11/16" wide by 2-1/8" high (at the shaft). Shaft is the same 3" length as the original. Add $1.25 for a matched/honed bearing for these new rudder. Just ask. A few original resin-cast rudders with the old smaller shafts are available if you need an exact replacement to the original. | M117 | $5.00 |
