Bending Rigid Brass Tubing:

Heat the part of the tube you want to bend to a dull red color. 

Warning! All brass alloys have some percentage of lead in them. Heat the brass outside in a well ventilated area just in case lead is given off during the heating process.

Drop into water to quench it. Don't hold the tube because hot steam may run up the tube and burn your fingers. This softens the brass. It will easily bend now. However, you must brace it inside or outside to prevent it from kinking when you bend it. BendBrass1a.jpg (15186 bytes)
Use a spring bender for that size tube or... BendBrass2.jpg (16520 bytes)
Dry the tube. Put tape on one end of it. Pour dry sand into the tube. Tamp it against the table to pack the sand tight.  BendBrass3.jpg (23299 bytes)
 Bend carefully. Then, shake out all of the sand by tapping it against the table. BendBrass4.jpg (20487 bytes)
