October 2003 Meeting Photos:

One regular meeting, and one volunteer gathering.

October 25th, 2003 Volunteer at Fort Yargo, in Winder.

We could not have asked for a better day. Cool, sunny, steady breezes. Instead of everyone coming down at once, the group came a few at a time over a three hour period. No one fell in. All boats that went in the water, came out again.

Perfect lake. Water was only about six inches lower than the wood-trimmed shore. No twisted ankles setting boats into the water. Forgot the Iceberg! Tugs had great fun pushing the Titanic around.  Note the heavy Starboard list, after a serious broadside by Ray's tug (Left side of the picture.) Only the lead ballast was shifted. No damage was done.

Matt met some great sailors this day. His sub and Cutter saw a lot of action. The sun was behind us all day. Much better on the eyes. No sunburns that I know of. As the group came and went, it never got much more crowded than this. Ray's Zig Zag was the fastest boat on the water today. Here, we are piloting a fast duck.

Fort Yargo is really a hidden jewel in Barrow County. The facilities were top rate. OK, this is my bragging photo. Yesterday, I spray-painted windows on the upper foam of the Titanic.  View of the shore from the camera boat. See what I mean about the easy access! We really need a dock at Briscoe.

October 18th, 2003 Meeting Photos:

Cool sunny day. The Watsons brought us a large snack of both boiled and roasted peanuts. THANK YOU VERY MUCH by the way! We couldn't decide if dropping peanut shells was littering or recycling. It was signup day for the Scouts at Briscoe Park. As a result, we were quite busy with visitors later in the day. I talked way too much and didn't take very many photos. However, others did and I'll appreciate any that are emailed to me to post!

See what I mean about the nice sunny day! The Cub Scouts were still playing games nearby, at this point.  Later, when it got busy, I almost forgot to take some photos.

Scale and sail had control of the lake. Fast electrics had some trouble with pine straw in the water. (Not this one though.) The visitors were well behaved and took turns.

David did do some cruising. Notice the pine straw. No collisions today. And, I forgot to take a photo of Doug's "bimbo boat". It is being repaired for a rematch later. Another rescue, only after the sailboat's batteries got tired.

A closeup of the "Bimbo" from Casey Some more shots of his. Replacement boat has yellow caution tape to prevent future collisions.

Now for the high speed action. Serious churning. Nice photography.
